Training Courses 2020

British Canoeing Courses

BCU Discover (Previously known as BCU 1*) – 4 week beginners kayaking course

£45 (includes equipment hire and certificate)

Learn basic paddle and rescue techniques in our beginners kayaking course.  The training will take place over 4 consecutive Thursday evenings starting on 14th May until 4th June (inclusive).  You will need to be available from 6pm to 8:30pm each Thursday evening for during these dates to complete the training.

Once you have completed and passed this training you will be able to join our Thursday evening club members paddles from Hengistbury Head, and will be able to participate in club trips.

This training runs from Hengistbury Head Outdoor Centre.

To book onto this training, you will need to firstly sign up as a Southbourne Canoe Club member, once you have paid the appropriate membership fee on our online payment system, webcollect, you will then see the course appear on webcollect for you to book onto.

BCU Explore – (Previously known as BCU 2*)

Learn more advanced paddle and rescue techniques in this one day course for people who have previously completed the BCU Discover Course (BCU 1*) or equivalent.

The course will involve theory, boat control, safety and rescue and will involve towards the end of the course getting wet.

Anyone wishing to complete training with the club must first become a member before a training booking can be taken.  To book on a course use the link  below to take you to information about membership and then to our online secure booking system (Webcollect).
