Exe & Barle Weekend- 3rd,4th,5th October

This is a nice introduction to whitewater, and is grade 2. It is suitable for 2* standard paddlers and above, providing they are happy paddling a long way. The Exe in particular is 11 miles, and weaker paddlers may find this a struggle. Prior whitewater experience is not required. If you are in any doubt, please do contact me. In addition, South Avon insists that paddlers are over 14. As a club, we insist that children under 18 are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We camp at the Exe Valley Caravan site. Details of this are found:-

http://www.sacc.co.uk/html/canoe_camp.html

You have the choice of either travelling up Friday night and staying the Friday and the Saturday, or arriving for 9am for the briefing at the Exe Valley Caravan site on the Saturday morning.

The site has a pub which serves drink and food.

Costs are as follows:-

Tents £5.50 per person, per night
Entrance fee £3.00 per paddler

If you wish to come, please tot up the total cost, and send a cheque to me, made payable to Richard Hampson. I will be paying South Avon personally. Write the names of the people coming, which nights you are staying, an emergency contact number, and the number of cars you will be bringing on the back of the cheque. If you have any medical conditions, please make this known as well.

Please email me and I will give you the address to send the cheque, or just hand it to me personally on a Thursday night.

The deadline for this is 25th September, as I will be sending off the booking form then.

Introduction to Whitewater Trips- Devon

We will be running the Dart Loop (or similar) on the following dates:-

8-9 November
24-25 January
14-15 March

Each trip has 12 spaces.

These trip are at an introductory level, so prior experience of whitewater is not a necessity. Paddlers should be paddling at around 3* skill level though. Please talk to me if you have any questions about suitability. Rivers selected will be mainly Grade 2, with a little bit of 3.

Persons under 18 must be accompanied by a parent of guardian.

Accommodation will cost £9 per trip.

We will meet at the Newbridge car park at 9.30 am on the Saturday for each trip. Ask me if you need directions.

You will need a packed lunch for both days.

We will stay at the Fox Tor Cafe in Princetown.

To secure a place on one of the trips, you need to give me your name, mobile number, next of kin number and £9. This charge is completely non-refundable if you subsequently are unable to attend.
