I am organizing a camping weekend at Symonds Yat on the river Wye in Herefordshire on 16-17 Sept.
There will be scenic river trips suitable for all kayak/canoe type and an opportunity for those interested in trying white water kayaking to do so in relatively easy conditions.
I will not be able to carry canoes for people on this trip but all types of boat are available to rent locally.
Before i go too deep into organizing the campsite can you please let me know if your interested so i have an idea of numbers, on the forum or direct at firstname.lastname@example.org
I will post further details nearer the time.
An update on the Symond Yat weekend 16-17 Sept.
I have looked into the approximate costs and for camping it should be around £15 per person per night.
Bed and Breakfast is also available most vary between £60-£80 per night.
Kayak and canoe rental is approx £30 per day for those not using club equipment.
Most campsites on the river in Symonds Yat are full until next season but there are several nearby in the forest which expect to have plenty of space.
I will decide on the campsite about 2 weeks before departure and let you all know the details, you will need to make the actual booking yourself.
HI De Hi Campers
The campsite i have chosen through recommendation, availability and location is Bracelands campsite Forest of Dean 024 7642 3008
http://www.campingintheforest.co.uk I have now booked a basic grass pitch for a small tent for 2 nights Fri 15th/Sat 16th (covering the weekend 16/17 Sept)
This cost a total of £24 so quite reasonable. There are grass pitches with electricity and hard stand with electricity also available at extra cost.
For those wanting hard stand i would suggest early booking to avoid disappointment.
I look forward to seeing some of you there, if you require club boats i will try to help but canoe rental is available.
I am planning on getting there lunchtime Friday so you can contact me there on 07713880018 if necessary.
Sadly i will not be wearing a yellow coat.
Ho De Ho
We’re all booked. See you Friday,
I’m all booked also, hope to get there before it’s dark to put up the tents in daylight.
