Southbourne Canoe Club
(SCC) only has a few operational rules, detailed below, to be followed at all
times when attending SCC activities. Please remember
we are guests at Brockenhurst College Hengistbury Head Centre (BC), so please treat the facilities as such.
Parking
Members allocated with an annual pass may park in the BC car park on Thursday
evenings only from May to October.
Members who do not have an allocated pass
may park in the BC car park as free space allows, all cars must display an SCC sticker and number plate registered.
Parking is also availabe in the largecouncil pay and display car park which is a short walk down the access road and next to the Hungry Hiker Cafe.
All SCC members will be allowed road access to drop off equipment.
No parking is permitted to the front (harbour side) of the BC centre or on the access road to the centre.
SCC members may at times be asked to remove vehichles from the BC car park, at which time vehicles must be removed and can be parked in the council pay and display car park.
Any cars not registered with SCC, not diplaying a SCC sticker and not displaying a car park permit will be asked to remove their vehicle.
Changing
facilities
Access to the changing rooms when in either dry or wet
paddling kit must be made via the boat house, harbour side door. There
must be no access via the main side entrance.
When in either dry or wet paddling kit, toilet facilites are located in the changing rooms accessed via the boat house.
Please ensure that you leave the
changing rooms and showers in a tidy and clean state.
Launching
& Landing
Kayaks and Canoes may only be launched form the BC slipway. At times the slipway may be managed by BC staff and launching may be scheduled to avoid conflict. If requested SCC members must observe the launching schedule and comply with any request made by the BC staff.
SCC and BC equipment hired by members must be reuturned after use.
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted at any time within the BC perimeter.
SCC
Code of conduct It is the policy of Southbourne Canoe Club that
all paddlers, volunteers, coaches and parents show respect and understanding for
each other and conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of the
Club. The aim is for all paddlers to improve performance and have fun. Everyone
involved in the Club should abide by the Club Rules and Policies. Paddlers
Take care of all property belonging to the club or club members.
Treat
other club members with respect at all times — on and off the water — treat other
paddlers as you would want to be treated yourself.
Please
control tempers and
avoid behaviour which may inconvenience or upset others.
Please co-operate and
listen to your coach or club officials. Club officials, Coaches and Volunteers
Consider the well being and safety of paddlers before the development
of performance.
Develop an appropriate working relationship with performers,
based on mutual trust and respect.
Make sure all activities are appropriate
to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.
Display consistently
high standards of behaviour and appearance.
Follow BCU and club guidelines
and policies.
Hold the appropriate, up-dated qualifications and insurance.
Encourage paddlers to value their performance and not just results.
Never
condone the use of prohibitive substances.
Parents/
Guardians
Help your child to recognise good performance, not
just results.
Never force your child to take part in sport.
Never
punish or belittle a child for loosing or making mistakes.
Publicly accept
official’s judgments.
Support your child’s involvement and help them to
enjoy the sport.
Use correct and proper language at all times.
Set
a good example by applauding good performances of all paddlers.
